The asset that makes this one different: the redirect came from inside the family. Her sister opened the door, took the free pest control, and then asked if she could pay us to go do Jay's house instead of her own. Nobody on the channel has had that, and no competitor has it either. Cole's biggest video ever is a redirect (66X), but in that one the subject refused us. Here somebody offered to buy the help for someone else. That is a stronger version of the same shape and it is the lead title.
Format read (from the Style Guidelines):
Escalation ladder for the whole video: pest control, then the freezer, then the groceries, then the yard, then the roof, then the grill and the backyard, then the mortgage. Six rungs across four days. The longest stack the channel has run.
Cold open call: the roof reveal. It is the biggest visual reaction in the video and it pays the title inside two seconds. The mortgage money stays out of the hook entirely, because it is the only beat nobody watching can guess, and it is what the last line is holding back.
The mortgage is the clock. Behind on the payments with a seventeen year old in the house is the only hard stake in the story, and it is the one fact that makes the last day land. Naming it in the hook does not spend the payoff, the same way Amanda's hook named the county taking the house without saying we saved it.
The paint runs through other people. Jay never asked for anything, so her sister asks for her. That is the never-asked beat delivered by somebody else's mouth, which is more credible than Jay saying it herself. Mateo carries the second rung: he is seventeen and he lives under the roof we replaced.
Share trigger vs click trigger. The sister buying help for Jay is the only fact in this story that gets sent to somebody, not just clicked on. Any arm built on her carries a ceiling the gift arms do not have.
Door-knocking with free pest control as the cover story, looking for somebody who actually needs help

Cops get called on us while we're working the street, we talk it out with them

Day 4: finish the roof, set up a new grill and the rest of the backyard
End on giving her money for the mortgage she'd fallen behind on
We were knocking on doors offering free pest control, looking for somebody who actually needed the help. A woman answered, said yes, and then asked if she could pay us to go do her sister's house instead of her own. Before we even got there, somebody called the cops on us.
Her sister is Jay. We did her pest control for free, she invited us in, and she told us about her life. Her freezer had gone out and eight hundred dollars of groceries had spoiled inside it. She was behind on her mortgage. She has a seventeen year old son named Mateo living in that house with her.
So we kept coming back. We brought her a new freezer, took her to the store and filled it, cleared out her backyard, told Mateo he was getting a brand new roof, replaced the entire thing, and set the yard up with a new grill. On the last day we did one more thing for her that she never saw coming.

[The sister on the porch, money in her hand, holding it out.]

[Patrol car on the street. Cole walking over to the officer.]
VO: "Then somebody called the cops on us."
[Jay's porch. She opens the door. Jay soundbite, her own story. Don't VO over her.]
[Inside. The freezer standing open and empty.]
VO: "Her freezer had gone out. Eight hundred dollars of food went bad in it."
[Mateo in the driveway, hold one beat. Then the house from the street, up to the roof.]
VO: "And she was behind on the mortgage on this house."
[Half-obscured: the new freezer coming off the truck, a loaded cart, the crew moving on the roof, dust.]
VO: "We told her we'd come back the next day. We came back for four."
[Half-obscured final frame, her hand coming up to her mouth on the last day.]
VO: "And the last thing we did, she never saw coming."
[Smash to day one, the knock.]

Swaps
